Path Of The Misanthrope
People here love to talk about the bands, albums, and songs that they are passionate about, but let's take things a step further by looking at the specific parts of songs that make you fellate them so much. It could be an instrumental solo, vocal effect, or pretty much anything else that gives you a rock-solid hard-on. Be sure to include a time signature for the awesome part(s) of your song(s):

4:19 - 5:57

----------------------------------------------------------------

0:00 - 1:45 and 7:53 - END

-------------------------------------------------------------

0:00 - 0:50 and 4:14 - 5:04

-------------------------------------------------------------

2:08 - 3:27

-------------------------------------------------------------

5:10 - 6:30

-------------------------------------------------------------

0:37 - 1:22

-----------------------------------------------------------

0:00 - 0:42
and 2:30 - 3:47

I'll think of more later, but you guys can go ahead and post some.

Cool thread idea.

Here's one:

Horrendous - 'The Stranger' from 5.51 til the end of the song is awesome

And another, such an epic-sounding opening to this track:

Immortal - Solarfall (0:00 - 1:08)

3:30 - 3:55

I don't even like the rest of this song.

Intro

Greatest guitar tone ever?

4:15 - until the operatic vocals come in and ruin everything

Career-justifying.

Also every The Chasm part that does that ecstatic thing that The Chasm is wont to do.

I've more but no desire to clutter this thread.

i would enjoy your clutter pompster.

here's a few favourites. these are among the pinnacle of music for me, definitive examples of my taste.

metal
fates warning - epitaph (7:10-the end; for reasons that should be obvious, as magical as heavy metal gets.)

slayer - crypts of eternity (3:37-5:02; mainly because it culminates in the greatest scream in the history of metal)

at the gates - kingdom gone (3:42-4:15; the way it returns from the emotional climax to that apocalyptic earlier motif with the 'forevvverrrrr....' gives me endless shivers. i could just easily pick something from 'within' or the first half of WITH FEAR - no other band had more dramatic power.)

deathspell omega - carnal malefactor (0:00-3:40; it's absolutely wonderful in general though. possibly the only BM album i can think of that can get away with a leftfield turn into sacred music. that album makes some mistakes but that wasn't one of 'em.)

satan's host - hell fire (29:06-31:55; i still recall the bliss of hearing this the first time)

non-metal:
the jesus lizard - monkey trick (2:13-3:53; the song spends its whole runtime building to a climax, and when that climax arrives it does NOT disappoint. pure headbanging catharsis.)

elend - apocalypse (1:35-2:08; could be the most overwhelming moment of them all for me. works better in context of the album.)

mad river - eastern light (5:40-the end; such troubled, crumbling, desperate music, straining for lost beauty)

Sucks that you can't, unless I'm mistaken, make embedded videos start at a certain point.

1:24-1:50 3:45-wherever.

Intro

3:08-3:40

2:40-3:00

Intro

3:10-3:50 or whatever

Chorus, 1:00-1:15 or something first time

3:30-

1:28-1:55 and again later

5:30 or so to end

3:40-5:40

Chorus

2:45-end got this when I was about 10 in the late 90s and it probably did more than any other song to really get me into heavy music.

Most of the song is great, but the bass break at 2:10 and then the ultra awesome vocal effects after.

And for something very new:

The Bathory/Murg doing Immortal doing Bathory riff in 'Den Starkes Ratt', which is around 17:00 in this video.

A shame it wasn't quite as rifftastic as The Chills.

As an album I actually think I probably prefer it to the Chills, but I can understood people who believe the opposite. They are both really high-quality in my opinion. Very good band.

The intro up to 1:35, and 3:50 to 4:17

If you think that's good, you've really gotta listen to the entire "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant" album, it blows everything else Dimmu have done out of the water by at least 300%:
