South Korea Vs. North Korea

I just watched a 60mn documentary of a journalist doing some "tourism" in North Korea. If everything there is as old as what they have everywhere, their ICBM must be really shitty. All they have is old sovietic stuff. I'm not so scared anymore about a real nuclear attack on USA, there are some ways to stop a missile in the air (especially such old ones). What is believable is a fast strike against south korea, but I don't think this is likely to happen, since there are 40 000 US soldiers there, and I believe any attack would just put North korea in deep shit. Also, if US soldiers are there, I believe antimissile stuff are deployed.

What shocked me the most in the documentary is how hypocrit north korean are, with such a brainwashing. Deep inside them, they know there is something wrong, something to hide, in every thing, and they always try not to answer questions too specific.

-Here it is communism.
-Ok so why did you get me to a relatively luxuous hotel ?
-All korean have access to those hotels
-How much does it cost ?
-Almost nothing
-How much ?
-10 euros
-So not everyone can afford that ? (average salary for salaried ppl is 100, and peasons have none)
-(thinks and has to admit it) no. But there are different hotels like that that are cheaper
-(laughs) you are lying aren't you ? Of course there are no other ones
-Yes there are (laughs himself)
-And they are cheaper right ?
-(thinks) yes.
-So there is no equality here
-(thinks and doesn't say a word)

North Korea does not have nuclear weapons.
They did build nuclear reactors, I think there were 3, and tried one or two times a nuclear explosion. Officially they were supposed to stop all their researches, and had a treaty with USA. But there were clandestine researches suspected and it created a few politic problems.

It's not sure wether today they have a real nuclear power, it's more likely to be weak, but still, with those thousands of soviet missiles, it's possible they kept a few of them and try to make them viable. In 2006 they did tested ICBM and nuclear explosion at the same time. In 2009 too, which created a conflict and now they "officially" said they are at the final stages of plutonium "refinement?". They may be bluffing about that last fact, but I guess they are actually able to make a viable ICBM one day. Would it be technological enough to beat US antimissile defense or not, they might still be someday.

Officially USA has no such weapons in south korea, but if I were US president, I would hide some there, and I guess every other country would agree to that and shut the fuck up even if they discover it via satellite pictures.

EDIT : after some readings, I think the nuclear test was only in 2009.

China will not support North Korea if they attack. I say we move in and destroy the regime, no one is on their side! Except Iran, and who's worried about them :P

... i could be recalling incorrectly, though. either way, NK has a few ghetto ICBM's and would love to aim them at us when we come to SK's aid. but if the pentagon is correct, and let's just fuckin hope they are, NK's missiles (the tapedong 2) are shitty and barely work and they don't have many with nuclear payloads (like around ten of 'em).

This, and:

If everything there is as old as what they have everywhere, their ICBM must be really shitty. All they have is old sovietic stuff.
This.

North Korea poses no nuclear threat to anyone but South Korea - I don't get why anyone would be worried about that. The Pyongyang I and II missiles that they have access to cannot carry a nuclear payload, at least not far enough to care about.

What I'm really concerned about is how the unification of North and South Korea is going to go and when it is going to happen.

And as a more minor concern, the guitars we just ordered from a Korean guitar factory. I want my 7-string baritone Tele and P/J -Jazzmaster before they start blowing stuff up :(

There won't be any unification of N and S... why do you think they are fighting? lol

Kim Jong-un gets one shitty guitar from South Korea with crappy fretwork and he goes all apeshit. Geez!

This is the first time NK has been able to hit a target in a long time - at close range, hitting innocent people's houses in a coastal community, from a ship. It's sad and horrible because they hurt and killed innocent people - but militarily speaking, what a bunch of fucktards. This is the best they can do, apparently - hitting innocent people's houses at close range. Drive-by shooting with a boat.

They don't have nukes or they would have used them already. Most of their attempts at building missiles have pitched themselves into the ocean. They don't even have enough money to provide water or power for their citizens, and they put Christmas lights on their empty, unfinished luxury ghost hotel.

The best thing the world can do is wait for Kim Jong Il to kick the bucket, and hope his successor is more practical.

Isn't it about time the world took care of this? They keep nudging and prodding, and we just know it's going to get worse down the track. Yeah sure their warheads could be rickety, but that's no consolation to the South Koreans. All you have to do is read the press releases from the North for it to frighten the hell out of you. In no way should these people be anywhere apart from locked up in mental institutions.. much less given access to an ever expanding nuclear arsenal. Why is everyone turning a blind eye to this??

I was reading up on NKorea this summer and I found this quote particularily worthy of lulz.

"Park Yong Soo, the North Korean representative at the eighth working-level meeting between North and South Korea at Panmunjom, retorting angrily to Song Yong Dae, his South Korean counterpart. "Seoul is not far from here," he declares, "If there is a war, it will become a sea of fire.""

What a fucking bunch of extremists.

Their only way of getting foreign aid is to flaunt the few trump cards of aggression they have. So this posturing for them is routine in catching international attention. I say we call the bluff and carpet bomb the whole fucking country. Let South Korea seed it and give us some more Oceania Battle.net servers.

I think no one is. The most terrifying thing, from what I have seen in the videos I have seen, is that people from NK themselves are "happy" of how NK is. They actually think their system is the best. It's written everywhere "We don't need the world", they teach their children to shoot at american suited targets. So it must be almost impossible to do anything since almost no one there would be helping you to do so. So the situation is much more complicated than we can imagine. This cannot be solved by a military action, it will inevitably turn into a bloodbath of citizen who will go guerilla maybe more than anywhere else. And it will give credit to the local government, who already points the americans as the real danger, and I don't think they will make a difference between US or NATO or anything. And this cannot be solved by a political action either. There is no short-term solution. Problem is that time is what they need to maybe one day have real nuclear power. Maybe they have no money, maybe they will never build a real long range missile (their current big model who failed into the ocean over japan could only reach Alaska or Hawaii if it was empty, and even if it did, it wouldn't have enough precision to hit a specific location, from what I understood), but they already create their own missiles that they even sell (or sold) to other countries. It may be shitty, but still a missile is a missile, and they have a little experience. They could one day put a nuke in a mid range missile. I'm not worried for Japan who has a serious AEGIS fleet that proved its efficience in a US/Japan test once, but for south korea, this is not the same deal. A missile is so fast, and the no mans land is 70kms away from the south korean capital.

Although, funny fact I didn't know : if I'm right, seems like it's harder to create a little nuke than a big one, the process is harder to master than a "normal" nuke. So it's an even more challenging thing to produce a little nuke head, and the fact their explosion tests were ridiculously little is only because they do not already achieve full explosion of their material.
