SSL Duende Native plugins are out

Sorry for stupid question, but i´m currently wanna run your wav through nebula and use the new ssl emulation from aitb. So here´s my question: 4 db GR? How do you dial that in? Just looking where´s the peak and then set the threshold peak - 4 ?

Just drop the threshold until it hovers at -4db of GR

Ok there it is. Even with the lowest threshold value I can't get 4db of GR with those settings, I guess I'm slightly under 3db.

Like it more than the previous ones you posted to be honest (but maybe you tweaked the kick and snare meanwhile?). Has more punch. But then again, I looooooooove loud drums :)

I agree, I don't think the drums have changed much since I did mine....however it might be due to the lower GR and me limiting afterwards?

I dunno, sounds good though!

Hope Ermz has the Snap Program as well..... maybe i´ve done something wrong.....

Having the UA plugins, I have to admit I don't think I'll buy the SSL one. It doesn't sound so much better (if better at all, I'd have to try the demo to decide) and I could use that money on much more useful stuff :)

What's really getting annoying to me is that SSL endorsed the Waves plugin, then recently they endorsed the UA one (there were no change in sound or programming in it) and now they release their own... Sounds too much like a brand's name exploitation or business bullshit... Seriously, can they officially say "THIS" is the SSL sound from so many different products?

Brett, if you trial these plugs im sure you could do a pretty tasty bus comp shootout which is totally fair against the UA/SSL/Waves (if you have the waves version?)

The UA plugs do look killer, though really pricey :(

I don't have the Waves. Actually the only Waves plugin I have is the C6 that I bought recently because I can't use UAD Precision Multiband with Pro Tools as it has too much latency and PT doesn't compensate it enough.
UA plugins are not cheap but I don't think they are expensive either, and they're absolutely killer!!! I almost exclusively use them on my mixes and masters.

Is a little strange as you say with all these "authentic SSL" plugins...there is a clear difference between the Waves and the SSL and I would have expected SSL themselves to have the more authentic models but you can't say anything for certain. Those UAD plugs do sound killer, not just the 4K.

I've never used a real SSL so im not massively arsed if the plugins don't sound exactly like the hardware, I just like it to sound good and help shape the mix.

Still think i'll be picking up the SSL CS + SSL bus comp together in future on the essential package deal as its deffo a big step in the right direction for me.
