It depends on just how bad the vocals are. Imo these vocals are totally shit and completely ruin it for me (also the music is generic and mediocre). Whereas, for example with Dream Theater, I really don't like James LaBrie's voice, however the singing is still technically proficient and therefore I can listen to Dream Theater and still appreciate it.

You have a totally fucked up taste in music... well maybe not, but it's totally in opposition to mine, which is weird because we both LOVE a lot of the same bands. I just don't understand it, all I can say is I hope you actually listened to a few of their songs before you judged because they really are an awesome band, maybe not amazing vocally but not as band as some other bands. I don;t care that you don't like them 
I just don't understand how we like so much the same bands but you also have such a different taste in music. It's strange to me.Also, you like Alestorm, what is your major malfunction. ^LOL, but true. This is getting dangerous... I just need to say that IMO "these vocals are totally shit and completely ruin the music, also the music is generic and mediocre" applies to Dream Theatre as much as to the other two bands we're discussing, at least for their recent albums. Their earlier stuff was pretty good.
I think it's a matter of getting used to the "bad" stuff. You might find yourself loving it soon enough without realizing the transition.

Stam1na are great! One of my fav bands, maybe the best live band I've seen, those who don't like the vocals on "Kadonneet Kolme Sanaa" should try this

stan1na is pretty good band now im in to them lol but i wish the shreded more though i like tht kinda stuff but stam1na what genre are they it sound kinda like thrash metal..which is ok but im a melodic deth metal person...

oh i do like more than one genre but it is all under one genre of death metal i like anything from melodic deth metal o tech. deth metal ...and then again i do like some viking metal and celtic metal ...but basicly i like melodic deth metal the best

Then you're missing out. I used to be that way when I was younger, then I grew up. Power metal is probably the best genre imo (I mean anyone can growl..), and I used to hate it when I was younger.

u probly are older but i have different look on music then u and i undertstand tht u like other music but i cant get into any other genre besides deth metal and viking/celtic metal any ways its not so much the screaming/growling...even no i like it its more about the guitar becuz im a guitarist and there way of playing is my fav...but oh well everyone has an opinion

Well as a guitarist you'd love bands like Symphony X and Sonata Arctica. I know what you're saying, and like I said, when I was younger, I hated power metal vocals, I couldn't get into it at all, but when you get older your tastes change.
