I'm just getting in to metal and would love any recommendations. Sorry if this has been posted, but my computer's acting up whenever i try to use the search. And try not to have the recommendations a little more accessable, seeing as how I'm just now getting into metal.

death metal: Morbid Angel and Nocturnus. there's my big contribution. my sig should give you an idea of how awesome Nocturnus are, and MA just flat out rule in every sense of the word, one of the most well-respected DM bands for a reason

Death: Morbid Angel for sure, maybe Deicide (well it got me into DM) and Death

Black: Difficult for beginners... maybe Setherial, Naglfar, Astriaal...

Ill reccomend a few bands from each genre to get you started. if you find you like a certain genre let me know and ill give u more bands.

Black Metal: Emperor, Immortal, Venom, (venom isnt really black metal, they had an album called black metal that sorta gave the genre a name, but its a much different sound), Mithotyn (this is sorta black/folk metal), and Borknagar

Death: Atheist, Death, Arsis, Ribspreader, and Dismember

Melodic Death: In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, At The Gates, and Disarmonia Mundi

Thrash: Testament, Death Angel, Exhorder, Kreator, and Metallica (only the first 4 albums)

Progressive: Evergrey, Nightwish, Into Eternity (prog/death), Deream Theater, Odyssey (dan swano project)

Power Metal: Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Angel Dust, Helloween, Edguy

that should be enough to get you started. let me know what you like, and ill reccomend more.

ah yes, cant forget Death.... "Symbolic" is an excellent starting point into death metal.
