Gary Barden returns with another incarnation of Statetrooper. For those familiar with Barden from both the previous Statetrooper records & his stint with Schenker’s band, this will be familiar ground. The record kicks off, with what I consider, the strongest track on the release, "The Calling." From there, you have wade through, 9 lackluster tunes, before you get to another quality track in "I Believe." For those who are fans of Euro AOR, this record is right up your alley, this one’s also for the hardcore Barden followers. While, this record isn’t horrible, it just doesn’t capture the energy that the opening number has. Great production, excellent musicianship, so-so songwriting, and classic AOR vocals. I truly wanted to like this record, being a fan of some of Barden’s previous projects, it’s just very bland. I will however, take a chance on their next effort.
