What a wanker.

I use to respect him, but clearly he is has no brain.

He was dangling the kid near the water and everything, what the hell was he thinking?

How could you have any respect for someone who jumps on animals in the wild purely for show on tv? He's a complete showman, and I doubt he has any respect for animals beyond what they help him earn in entry fees to his park, and his TV appearances...

He uses the money he gets from his TV shows and movies to buy huge parcels of bushland and such all over Australia (and the world, I think) so they don't get wrecked. He just doesn't advertise that fact very often.

Because he seemed to love what he did, and became very successful at it - if though jumping on animals is hardly a career.
I respect anyone who follows their dreams to fruition.

Yes what he did was a bit on the stupid side.....what you seem to forget this guy has been working so close to crodiles for so long he knows wht they are going to do before the croc even knows! It wasn't near the water it was above his head.
He probably should not have done it as it wouldn't be seen in the light that he intended!
The guy is one of the biggest conservationists in the world has done ten times more than Sting could ever hope to do in his entire life.
Someone with his knowledge of Crocs and love for his family as he clearly shows all the time would not have done something like that without thinking 1st!

But all he had to do was slip (and everyone slips occasionally), and it would have been all over. :erk:

I know he 'understands' croc's better than anyone, but they're still animals; capable of doing the unexpected. What he did was stupid, and I really doubt he put too much thought into it (especially considering the obvious bad publicity that was bound to occur).

yeah it was probably a mistake but like Xena and Gavin said, he is a huge conservationist and he brings a lot of money to the country so this incident doesn't change my opinion of him

Who really cares its his kid, he thought the they were in no danger, and he SHOULD know better than us when it come to predicting the reptiles moves, so good foir him I couldn't give a shit

Like Steve said in a press conference about it all he sees no wrong in it as he was brought up in the same way in the very same park.
It is a bit like saying that tribes all over the world are wrong as they put their children in constant danger in various ways but it is the way of life for them.
Everyone of our parents brought us up in some way that not everyone will agree was the right or wrong thing to do.
i am a bit peeved at the fact that Queensland family services are responding in the manner they all are....I bet if the media hadn't jumped on it in the way they did this department wouldn't even be bothering God knows they don't respond very well to other incidents they should really respond to and the child ends up dead or harmed beyond belief before they do anything!

im' mixed over what he did. Whilst he does know a lot about crocs, and he's been around em for years, you've always got to bear in mind that they ARE wild animals.. I"m not sure if you can COMPLETELY "tame" a wild animal... There's always the chance that the croc could have done something in the event of a fall or something.

In saying that, i reckon the media has blown it out of the water. All this shit about it decreasing tourism, etc etc... I can't see it myself.

He's raised the profile of reptiles a lot, good on him. Also his conservation work has been alright....

That's the stuff he should be remembered for, not babies.

Agreed. It will blow over very quickly. I'm sick of the media cutting down tall poppies all the time. It's like shooting fish in a barrell. When my daughter ran away for two weeks, the Department of Community Services here in NSW did nothing, but you can bet if I was Steve Irwin and she was Bindi and ran away for two weeks, family services would be all over the case like ants over honey. It's fucking bullshit! I've known parents who've thrown their kids in swimming pools at six months old to teach them to swim, and they haven't been dragged through the fucking courts.
