He wouldn't have done this if he thought there was any danger. He may act like a fool, but he's not.
No, that would be unaccountably stupid, if it was a blazing, out of control inferno. It all depends on context, as does the whole Irwin argument. If a firefighter was doing a controlled firefighting demonstration, surrounded and assisted by other firefighters, there would still be a risk, but the risk would be considerably much lower than if he was attending a factory fire or a bushfire, for example. In Irwin's case, what he did was pretty foolish. A crocodile is an unpredictable wild animal and could quite easily have lunged for the child than the morsel Steve was offering. However, a few things need to be considered. Irwin's sanctuary is a controlled environment. While the crocs there are still wild and unpredictable, they would have nevertheless developed an animal understanding about feeding routines, etc, and he would also have a reasonable understanding of their individual habits and moods. There IS a chance it could have attacked the child, but that chance would be considerably diminished as opposed to that of, say, a wild croc in the Kakadu or something. Plus he was surrounded by other handlers. What he did was pretty moronic, but I would be more critical of him if he had decided to do this on the banks of the Kakadu River surrounded by crocodiles he knew nothing about. That would have been far stupider.spawn said:So if a Fireman dragged his one month old kid 10 feet from a blazing inferno thats ok too, because he knows a lot about fire and surely he will see any problems before they occur...
