I don't think this is a joke at all, I've heard this thumb-in-the-butthole -thing many times before.

But this was quite sad indeed, here in Finland this accident got half a page in our biggest newspaper!

But I can't really say I had heard about him before this.

Ahh, but he got 40 more years of playing with dangerous animals than most of us. He was following his dad around wrangling crocs when he was just a kid.

He saved innumerable animals that would normally have been destroyed and taught the rest of us a little about diversity.
