Steven Wilson Solo album!!!

Well... I just preordered my limited edition copy. $76.11 USD. :guh:

Three words...

Ow...

My...

ASS!!!

This one had better be good, Steve!

Not that I'm worried, mind you...

:zombie:

Unless it comes with a handjob or someting, it's to the music store with me. I'll wait til next year. I'll just be happy to get it.

I must be a hopeless fanboi... if anyone, I mean anyone else had come out with a gimmick like this I'd be blasting them with both barrels! I mean, I can afford it, but damn! That had better be one helluva book that comes with it!

That said, I still can't wait to crank up the DVDA on the surround sound rig! Shit, as much as it's costing me, I might as well spring for a nice bottle of Pinot and a bag of hydro indica nugz and make that first listen a fuckin' special occaision, because at nearly 80 bucks, we'll all know what it's like to have sex with Steven Wilson by the time it's over!

I pre-ordered one but not without an ouch! The price of the CD itself is not too bad (I often pay 20 something for imported CDs so around $60 for a double album and a nice book is reasonable IMO) but the shipping cost really is ridiculous. Half of my paycheck is now gone with this and the Roundhouse Tapes

from porcupinetreeforums.com, it's burning shed about the price:

"We're well aware of how expensive the special editions of Insurgentes
must appear and we're genuinely sorry if people have taken offense.

However, what people must bear in mind is that the postage costs are
excessive due to the extreme weight (1.6 kilos) of the package and
the fact that we need to buy special protective packaging in order to
send it out properly. As a company who has frequent dealings with the
Post Office, we are sending this out as cheaply as we can. Obviously,
this is something we all looked into seriously before the launch of
Insurgentes.

As for the actual product price, the elaborate hardback booklet has
specially commissioned photography/artwork and is incredibly
expensive to produce. SW has paid for this himself. The cost of
manufacturing alone ensures that Steven won't make a great profit on
this even if all the copies sell out.

This was definitely a labour of love rather than a ticket to easy money.

Burning Shed"

Don't get me wrong, if I weren't supremely confident it's going to be completely worth it, I wouldn't have ordered it. I just would've liked to have seen the general release date be within a week or two of the LE date so that those who might not be able to swing the rather stiff asking price for the LE weren't stuck with either having to wait several months for it or ripping it off of bittorrent. I'm just not sure how shrewd a business move that is.

Still, it should make a heckuva nice Christmas present to myself! :kickass:

Wow... it looks and sounds amazing. It's $50... and I'm broke. :( BUT I NEED IT!!!

I'm just hoping they release the DVD-A as a normal edition later, it would be rather unfortunate if it was only available in this expensive pre order package.
