Still Life?

Because it sounds cool :p.

No, well I'm not sure. Perhaps because the narrator's life is motionless, lacking Melinda. Or perhaps it suggests that he is still alive or something.. I dunno, I'm no good with vague meanings.

I think the most likely situation is that Mike ripped it off from somewhere as he tends to with most Opeth stuff, haha.

Wasn't this supposed to be another concept album like MAYH? If it was, then what was the story behind it?

i believe it's called still life since the main character raises from the dead and the story repeats over and over again...i know that mikael actually said that this is not the case but i like the idea...

I thought it was just that Mikael nicked it from a 70's prog song, or something like that?

I remember reading some where that it was a name of an old prog band or something, similar to how Blackwater Park was an older band's name...

No. Mikael called this album "Still Life" because that title sounded cool and he wanted one of Opeth's albums to be called like that. There might be a rip-off; but, what does it matter?

I think I read it on an interview. If I find it, I'll post it.

Well, guys, you have been lucky that I found the interview. Here it goes:

Question: Cool! I figure we should talk about the new album, Still Life. There's controversy about where you ripped the name from. The first thing people think of, but everyone hopes you didn't get it from, was the FATES WARNING live album last year.

Mikael: I saw that. I got a mailing list from Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles and it had Fates Warning Still Life on it and I said 'Fuck!' I've never been into FATES WARNING. On the other hand there are so many albums out there called Still Life, and so many tracks too. We're just another one. They have it on an IRON MAIDEN album, the VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR, there was even a band called STILL LIFE in the 70s that released a self titled album. I really like the title though. It's a classic one.

if you take a look at my avatar...it is an album cover by the band "Still Life" on which the cover features the Opeth font, and a cluster of Orchid pedals. I havent asked Mike about this yet but....

you tell me. ;)
