Stillwell Audio Plugins

Only just got round to trying the demo's for these plugs today, and I have to say that I'm very impressed.

The 1973 is a really nice EQ, "Major Tom", is also really cool too. The Mojo bus plug was really cool for distorting vocals a bit. Definitely thinking about buying these now, and I was just going to recommend them to anyone if they haven't tried them yet!

I always end up using the 1973 and the Major Tom. The EQ sounds really good on acoustic guitars. I like the 'Event Horizon' limiter on Overheads too.

Yep, I think that this plugs works great, I have the event horizon and major tom, I really like the event horizon in the drums bus.

The 12k boost on the 1973 is nothing short of amazing. It's one of the smoothest high frequency boosts in a plugin to my ears.

Also if your looking for a software phaser or chorus that works well with guitar check out the Oligarc effects suite.

I'm gonna be buying a new Mac Pro within the week, and I will definitely be buying Event Horizon once I start all the software installs and updates...

Still need to try these, they look very promising.

you really should... they're great.

Major tom has a huge problem though. With more pronounced settings you get a huge SLAP when the first hit of the the wave form is audible.

it makes it kinda useless...

the rest are great plugs!

Gave the plugins a spin last night. I actually dig their Oligarc stuff the best, particularly the drive and chorus. 1973 sounds OK to me but nowhere near as good as the UAD-1 Neve 1073 plugin. The mids are seriously nasal and unmusical on a variety of test material I tried. Major Tom sounds like a fairly accurate DBX compressor clone, but I don't know when I'd use it unless I really wanted something to pump annoyingly and grab transients in really immature-sounding ways. I've gotten better results out of some of the stock plugs in Cubase to be honest. Perhaps these plugins will work better for other styles of music (I'm mixing a deathmetal band right now)

Their graphic designer kicks ass, though.

I thought the 1973 was nice with small boosts, but I can see what you mean about it sounding a bit nasal. Probably to do with the Q setting. That said, some small boosts on there were really cool I thought. Also for those looking for a Mac compatible clipper here we have one.

The graphic artist for Stilwell is reaper skin master White Tie...I hope he creates and Oligaric looking reaper skin..if he skinned all the stock plugs as well it would be amazing....

I dig the "vibe eq" alot...great on everything.ads a nice bit of dirty character...

the oligaric schwa plug-ins are excellent for guitars

transient monster on the drums..

between stilwell , voxengo, Kjearhus, and audio damage there are some awesome affordable options!

Vibe EQ has a cool high end I tend to put it on the master bus
Major tom for my snare tracks usually, great compressor
Event horizon to crush my bass tracks

Haven't found a use for oligaric, transient monster, bad bus mojo or the others really. I don't like the reverb at all.

They all wrap perfectly for Pro Tools too.
