Strange EMG's [PIC]

I was watching a live stream of a Metallica concert and Kirk had a set of EMG's that had the pickup rings and pickup in one. Anyone ever seen anything like them?

Yeah, definitely painted. My current guitar has painted blackouts, looks quite cool IMO.
