Streaming of Exodus in studio

i still wonder how he deals with phase issues and the stereo image when micing cymbals like this.
it's obviously a cool way to get the cymbals really clear and balanced, but what about the rest of the kit, especially snare?
maybe he automates the overheads up for the cymbal hits?

On my own experience I've always put the mikes like that and never had problems. but i don't think automation is an option. It's better to gate the signal and EQ to get rid of some low end frecs.
the amount of snare signal that bleeds to the OH mics is not comparable to the snare channel at all. so is negligible.

A real phase problem is when you mic the top and the snare bottom. there you have to be sure they are in phase if you don't want the snare to disappear.
