I just wanted to ask about men, that radiate strength by their music and behaviour.
I think MAX CAVALERA is one of them. Much troubles fell onto his shoulders last years: split with friends and brother in SEPULTURA, death of the son of his wife, Dana, worries with Roy Mayogra(drummer of Soulfly), but he will never leave music. His simple songs are full of anger and strength, he fights with fucking police for his fans on the concerts, I think he is really strong!:(

Another really strong guy is CHUCK SCHULDINER, that doesn't give a shit about illness. More than 20 musicians were in DEATH and it isn't dead though. Art of CHUCK is strong both by music and lyrics.

This was so cool; I saw the thread title (strong personalities in metal) and my first thought was "Max Cavalera"...definitely an influence...he made me buy a BC Rich and kaki pants wohah

Because of his voice I hereby name "Garm" as one of such people.

Garm aka Trickster aka Trickster G. aka Disguised Master... please fill in the missing pseudonyms that I've obviously forgotten. :)

G. Wolf is the only one I can think of you missed :D . He goes by Christiphorious Garm Rygg in the latest Ulver, that may be another (I though his proper name was spelt with a 'K'??)

Why just talk about strong men? Personally, I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of Tairrie B. from My Ruin - if someone pisses her off, she doesn't just smile sweetly about it and turn the other cheek, she goes on the attack with every last bit of her being! Check out the website (http://www.myruin.com) and find the bit about her 'disagreements' with Metal Hammer if you don't believe me...
Good on yer, Miss B.!

JUMP THE F*CK UP!!!!!!!!!! MAX CAVALERA and Corey Taylor (8) from the Knot make a kick@ss team!!!! The next SOULFLY album should have another 1-2 punch by MAX And Corey (8)!!!!

Chuck Schuldiner springs to mind. Cool guy, strong personality, strong words.

Also Warrel from Nevemore. Same deal, cool guy, strong personality, strong words.

ha ha, i might also take the time to mention Devin Townsend... now THAT is a personality with conviction.

Fiery G. Maelstrom (Borknagar - The Olden Domain) Tricktster G. Rex (Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors)

Well, there's Steve Harris as a frontman of the Iron Maiden. Brutalizer mentioned Jeff Waters from Annihilator, but I think he's nearby to be a dictator, hehe, I loved the voice of Aaron Randall (from the Set The World on Fire album) more than Water's voice. Kai Hansen from Ramma Gay, Gary Hughes, David Lee Roth, Chuck Shuldiner, Sasha Paeth...

|ngenius (a strong personality inside a big corpse)

Johan Hegg. I think he's a bit arrogant, but after reading a few interviews by him I was impressed with his strong personality.

I also now don't think he's that arrogant anymore after reading an interview with a certain "singer/songwriter"

There are also more people, but I can't think of anyone else... from metal at least...
