studio monitors to audigy 2

Yes it is Mendel.

You will have to connect the studio monitors to a component power-amp.

Then you will need to find a RCA stereo male to 1/8 Stereo Plug (mini plug like for our walkmans/discmans etc), and connect the Rca connectors to the poweramp's RCA input jacks and the 1/8 stereo plug to the audio out of the Audigy.

Mendel, that's exactly what I do.

I have a cable that's 1/8' stereo on one end, and branches off into two mono 1/4' on the other end. Both those go into each respective monitor. Now my monitors are active so they're internally amped. That cuts down on wiring too.

If you're using unpowered monitors, as Nitronium said, you'll need to hook em up into a power amp.

woow thank you so much for the information moolapse and nit-blood.

so if i get some monitors that are active i don't hve to use a power amp right ? soo . .which monitors should be good and no to expensive ?

thx already !

Yep - that's right. I have a set of Edirol MA-20D's. These are active digital nearfield monitors. They're self powered and not too expensive. You just plug 'em in using either the digital optical out or the phono-type output on the Audigy soundcard interface. Edirol also do the smaller and cheaper MA-10D's, but the 20D's have more bottom end. I'm sure there are loads of other makes, but, if they're just for a project studio type thing, the Edirols are relatively cheap, sound pretty good, can kick out some volume and are easily connected to an Audigy soundcard. Hope that helps.

btw dude, i checked your website ( rannoch ) that shit is awesome !!

Thank you.....that was recorded over 2 years ago now so it's way old stuff. We're in the process of 'pre-production' for the new stuff that we're going to be recording again ourselves. If you like Opeth/Nevermore/Dream Theater(the heavy instrumental bits) you'll f**king love it! I'll try and post a soundclip as and when.
