stupid obvervation about studios

this is really stupid thought but i felt like sharing so please indulge me... anyone ever notice how northern european and most european studios i've seen NON UK are very bright and open and airy and have tone of natural or natural looking light? meanwhile studios in la and nyc, but lets say LA for instance are usually darker and gloomy and have like christmas lights even in july. just an observation and ironic since it goes opposite the "myth" that la is warm and sunny and northern european countries and dark and cold...


yes stupidity but it just crossed my mind, sorry for taking up space on the internet

Most of the Finnish studios go into the dark/warm category, and that's what I perefer myself, too. Maybe that's because our weather's always crap

I've always liked having soft light, warm colors and preferably some natural wood texture around me when working. I hate those hospital-like studios with white walls and huge windows.

I think that (the OP) kind of sums up the room decor/architecture in general...homes included, not just studios. Sleek, modern, light, airy, maybe a little sparse European feel. More crowded, bulky, darker UK/US feel. Ikea anyone? Of course, just speaking in broad, general terms.

I think it has a lot more to do with noise, location and existing architecture than a choice. Big widows in an NYC studio would be a nightmare b/c of the street noise (which you know since you live there) and that assumes some flexibility in the building that may not exist.

i haven't been to every studio on earth but i have been to the most important ones.

ew is #1 imo (amazing)!

yea scandinavians like their shit all bright and airy inside, cause outside there's 12 ft. snow drifts on the ground for 9 months out of the year

dudes in LA keep it dark/chill inside, cause they can just step outside into the sun whenever they want

Maybe i'll win the lotto one day, and i can build something like that.

Although two problems with that.
1. I would have no idea how to use any of the gear.
2. I've never purchased a lottery ticket, and probably never will.

I love SARM's main studio... ever since I saw it in Iron Maiden's studio footage.. the studio 1 layout is just so clean... and everyone can see everyone, good stuff...

EWQL is fuckin amazing though!
