After i got raped on this forum i have decided to ask questions instead of make statements lol.

But since I have witnessed that a 5150 has such a horrible lean tone, what have u guys experimented with to redeem the clean tone on it?

I actually got a pretty good clean out of mine yesterday, even with the bias set cold. Green channel, gain on about 2, master about 4-5. Crunch button out, bright pushed in. Bass around 7, Mid 3.5, Treble about 6. Pickups were JB bridge/59 neck.

I wasn't pounding the strings, though. It was a picked intro.

I know in general though, people complain about the cleans.

I usually turn off the afterburner in my Recto & record clean with that.

The 5150 is more of a one-trick pony, but man, what a trick!

99% of the time, I'm working with distorted guitars, so might as well get something that's amazing for that 99%

If you absolutely must record cleans with a 5150, use the NORMAL gain input, green channel, crunch OUT, & be very, very gentle with the gain staging.
