I heard you talking about death-prog earlier Metalized and just wondered if there was black-prog too.

I'm listening to And Oceans now and it could pass for black-prog. Then again, every song I've heard from them is completely different. Right now I'm listening to 'Tears Have No Name'. It sounds proggy, with black influences. Now I have a track entitled 'The Room of Thousand Arts' and it's very black.

Progressive is about being different all the time, correct? Well then, these guys are it.

Oh! And I downloaded some Pain of Salvation... I will be buying an album, if not two, from them today. Woo hoo! I'm also going to look for Visionary, Atheist, Cynic, Soul Cages and Spiral Architect. \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/

ha ha. How progressive can blackmetal be???

Eg:

Intro: Harpsichord intro, reminiscent of the addams family, when guitars and drums come in, 'evil' singer sings: 'Ahhhhhhhhh!!!'

Verse: Shitload of blastbeats and speedpicking, 'evil' singer sings 'Hail satan, oh ye thou olde english, evil death ouch cunt'

Chorus: Half time drumming, speed picking guitar, sings 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.... Satan is my sister.. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR... OOOOOOOOOOHHHH....aaaaaaaah.... I am satan... be afraid!! Die!! Cunt!! Whore!! AhhhhhhhhhH!!!

Verse 2: Shitload of blastbeats and speedpicking, plus simple keyboard melody, singer sings 'Praise Satan, oh ye though olde english, dark trees kill people twice!!'

Chorus: (same as first...)

Bridge 1: Blastbeats and speedpicking
Bridge 2: Half time and speedpicking
Bridge 3: blastbeats and speedpicking, with 'evil' singer singing 'AAAaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh'
Bridge 4: Half time and speedpicking, with 'evil' singer singing 'OOooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh' (just like a monkey...)
Bridge 5: Guitars and Drums cut out, and there is only keyboards, similar to the harpsichord intro...
Bridge 6: Chick singer (preferrably wearing chains and bondage-leather) starts singing 'never leave me, vampire of the dark, evil soul save me, i'm been so alone'

Chorus: (same as first...)

OUttro: same as into, except fades OUT instead of fading IN.

The end.

It's a masterpeice!!

This has been a 'Trapped production', lesson two will be screened tomorrow afternoon, 'Death metal 101'.

Haha.

For being so narrow-minded that was REALLY fun to read ;)
I hate all this cliché-black-evil-death-metal. That bores me to death :p

But on the other hand, there is some pretty good black metal out there. just take Mother North with Satyricon and Where Dark And Light Don't Differ with Immortal.

Hi, I'm a visitor from the Opeth board.

You want Black-Prog??

Look no further than Emperor!!
IX Equilibrium and Prometheus are extraordinary progressive cds.
Prometheus may be the best cd of 2001. Checkit out.

There are many other black progressive bands out there-Hollenthon, Solefald, Borknagar, OPETH, and Finntroll to name a few.

...Opeth is nothing LIKE black-prog, they aren't even Death-Prog either.

It is simply prog-metal with death-vox... and clean vox.

FAAAAAAR from black.
