I just read this over at the Krank forum. I usually don't pay attention to much of their "tech-talk" over there (some is pretty out there) :goggly: but this caught my attention.

QUOTE:
I got a monster pro 900 power thingy and it takes away some metal from my amp. it feels as if there is a wall inbetween. also the power is cool for computer and recording but its messing with my tone big time... i remember my brother had a clean power suply thing and it did the same thing and for the longest time i thought his krankestein sounded like shit.. i rememberd what it sounded like just crap. like the wah is on with no wah, a treb boost and takes away my gain a bit... b4 i return this ASAP please let me know if you guys run though a clean power suply and what happens,,, I would rather blow up my own krankenstein than protect it and sound like shit... orders of vinny paul from pantera to me..."BLOW THIS BITCH UP"

Thanks everyone.... END QUOTE

Anyone heard of this?

I am plugging my amps/monitors/pc/firepod/x-amp into a Mnoster HT800 and am curious. From what I have read, it only affects high-current devices, so I am not expecting it to make a difference to anything else but amps in my case (if there is any difference at all). The models of filters that affect the tone the most are the so-called "clean power" or the like. I can't test it out right now but I will surely plug my amps directly into the outlet tomorrow and bypass the thing and see what it sounds like. If there is a difference I could even post clips.

Wow, the guy who wrote that quote sounds like a real class-act  And yeah, I'll never fully believe anyone's testimonial of a before/after difference unless they have clips to prove it, so bust 'em out!

I call bullshit... Power is power..... Now, there are some issues with mains power that can cause issues with amps, but not anything that would drastically change the tone... As long as the amp is seeing 110v (or in your case I think 220) it will not affect the tone..... Now if that power drops below what the transformer wants(say it drops drastically to below 200) then you will have issues.

Well I started a comparison test with the 6505 and then it decided to take a dump and shit the Mains fuse. I am starting to REALLY hate this amp. :Puke:

Anyway, I did it with the Rev.................................................NO DIFFERENCE.

Have included some sample clips anyway. One mix with and one mix without the filtered powerstrip as well as a double-tracked guitars only clip with and without. The filenames say it all. Guitars are absolutely raw, no EQ, or whatnot.

The Guitars-only clips kick back in at around the 37 second mark.
