sweep picking

when you doing sweep doing it near the fretboard(or also on the fretboard like buckethead and of course zappa's chicken pickin) and if you use an electric guitar use the pick up positioned also near the fretboard...

:D

Well I don't know if you know what arpeggios are but i'll post it anyway :p

arpeggios are broken chords (the notes are played one at a time)
Sweep picking is used to play faster with less effort, you can play multiple notes on adjacent strings using the same picking direction.

that's what I thought...
so when you 'sweep', would you hit each adjacent string with one motion, one sweep so to speak? Or can you pluck each note with the same directional picking, say a down ward pluck on each adjacent note? (if that makes sense... I don't know how to word it)
