I'm trying to get that really punchy low end that one dude "melvee" used to get. He was ridiculous, I will never achieve it... Any thoughts?

Also, how's my loudness?

All fake instruments/tone (well except for original guitar DIs).

Drums are Behindert's cymbals with the Fear Factory kick and Slate 12A snare (I think). Both are blended with some other random samples I made myself.

Guitars are quad tracked with iLok Pod Farm settings.

It all sounds really rather cool dude! The guitars are pretty thick sounding and don't have any of that fizzy sound that I hate but always get myself! Do you have any other stuff you have done?

Sadly, this is the only real decent "metal" mix I've done recently.

The reason why it's so short is because I just wanted to try inserting some better drum samples into a mix and see how they sounded. I was using the Colossus drum kits from East West but they don't really work for metal and were ruining my mixes I think- especially the cymbals which always sounded really thin and airy.

I think the key with Pod Farm is to try not to overgain things too much- just enough to make it sound distorted, beyond that it seems to get too saturated and fizzy. I always use that fake Tubescreamer (stock settings) to boost the gain and then never go past half way on the amp gain. Then I LP them at like 9-12k and shelf them at like 2.5k on the guitar bus until they sound upfront. Still, it's not amazing tone in my opinion but considering Pod Farm was free I can live with it!
