What is Danforth Music Hall like?
I like the fact that it will be a seated show. That should be a pleasant change of pace that will go great with the mellow songs...
Of course Toronto is about a 3 hour drive for me...
Can anyone tell me what St. Andrews Hall in Detroit is like and if that will be a seated show? (considering acts I've read about that have played there, I don't think it will be seated...)
cheers

Cameras aren't allowed in Canadian venues??
GRRRRR!!!!
Thats just so annoying because I was planning on taking my new Canon, and taking a ton of photos.
WrathChld said:What kind of Canon do you have? If it's a Powershot Elph, I doubt you'll have any problem sneaking it in. But if you're talking about an EOS film body with a fat lens, you'll definitely need a photo pass. Opeth's management is pretty picky about cameras - the main reason I spent three weeks tearing out my hair trying to get a photo pass on their last tour.
Also remember that this tour is happening in seated venues. So unless you're sitting up in the front row, you'd either have to stand up or duck into the aisles to shoot... which would be a dead give-away for security.
TheDemonOfTheFall said:Well, I have two cameras. One is a Kyocera Yashica Zoomate 105SE, and my new one is a Canon EOS 650. It doesn't seem likely that I'll even bother bringing my EOS over with me after all that photo pass business you mentioned. My Kyocera is fine though, I've never been dissapointed with results from that camera since i bought it last november (you can even see the results from it on Opeth.com, under "London 1" in the European Tour section in photos).
I'm in row A, so I'll hopefully be very close to the front. How about you? what row are you in?
WrathChld said:When are they hitting London? It might be worth contacting their manager (his email addy is on the band website) to see if you can get a photo pass. Apparently they were really easy-going about that on the Deliverance tour - not by my experience (which was a disaster) but other people I know got passes very easily. Definitely worth a shot.
Those London photos look great! (for the reference, they have my pics on there under Montreal and Toronto II) I'm amazed you got that kind of quality out of an automatic camera... then again, the Zeiss glass makes a huge difference. I don't know about my seat for the Toronto show. Since it's a guest-list ticket, I figure they'll drop me near the back. But I get to shoot from the aisles at the front, so that will be nice.
I'm excited about shooting them with my Canon 24-85 lens... the old Olympus couldn't focus worth a damn.
