Tasty Unknown Kick Sample!

I tracked down what project this kick was from and grabbed the backup drive containing the project files and notes on what the chain was.

DW 18x22 -> Audix D6 -> Firestudio -> IIEQ -> Sonalksis SV-315 -> ArtsAcoustic Reverb

Cool and its a good kick. But I wasn't implying that you nicked it and are trying to pass it off as you own it just sounds similar. Plus thats a compliment due to the fact you've been able to get a kick so close to somebody whos drums sound one of the best in the industry IMHO. :)

Im using this sample right now, I think its slightly more natural sounding than Andy's. Seems well multi-sampled too. New track should include this kick when its done :kickass:

decided to finally check out this kick... decent, but the reverb should not have been printed with it. makes it unusable for me. i do sometimes add reverb to kick (very sparingly), but i vary it in different parts of songs in terms of level and time.. and sometimes i want it dry... reverb, IMO, should be left off samples. as the engineer one needs to be able to have the flexability to apply it as needed.

On my system I hear very little reverb, to be honest. But I had to A/B it with the dry sample to be able to hear it, I guess :hypno:

Toss a gate on that bitch. I dont see why the verb creates a problem. It's not rumbly..I have always high passed the verbs on my kicks. Like the others said it is quite lightly applied. Does this make sneaps kick sample unusable as well? If so I think alot of people will be shocked considering how many projects it has most likely ended up on. You obviously know what your talking about and i'm aware of your productions(very nice) and colleagues, I'm definately not disagreeing with you. I'm just slightly confused. Care to elaborate?

Also, I could pull out the backup drive the files reside on and reprint the kick minus the verb if everyone would like. Just let me know.

Could do, personally I think this ones fine but if your down with doing it again Im not complaining :)

I personally don't like Andy's samples having reverb on them either, because even with a gate you don't seem to be able to get a natural decay. Plus, with dry samples, with as little processing as possible, you can totally shape it to how you want it to sound. So dry samples are preferred to me.
