I've just been advised that if I want to be able to download MP3s from one of my storage accounts, I should start using a browser programme called Opera.

I'm running Windows 95 on a 166 with a paltry 16 mb of RAM. If you could all stop pointing and laughing for a minute, I'd be grateful for some advice on whether I'd be doing the right thing :).

Opera should be fine, I used to use it exclusively, until I reformatted my hard drive and found better things. It's built to be small and fast, so you should be fine.

The free version is also supported by ads that rotate in the upper right corner, so you've got less screen area and it eats some of your bandwidth downloading the ads.

However, I must ask, why does the browser matter? Opera does nothing that IE/Mozilla/Netscape/Pheonix/Galleon/Konqueror does. (Well, actually it does, but nothing that should affect downloading or anything like that). Who advised you, and which storage site?

If you're going Mozilla, don't go Mozilla, go Pheonix. It's basically the Mozilla engine, but without all the bloat. Unless you want the stuff like news and email readers. Then go Mozilla. But in your case I'd go Pheonix. Smaller and faster.

Opera is the best browser ever, multiple windows are great, you can easily get any undisired material off the screen and to a news site as soon as your mum walks in.
