Hey all

This in it's entirety was recorded recently in my home studio which I've been building slowly over the last year. It was launched very recently, so there's no official website just yet. This is part of a side/solo project of mine.

The song can be found on the left side of the page, and you don't need an account.

The first and most obvious thing you'll notice is the programmed drums. If anyone could give me an indication as to what sort of equalization I should use to make any specific part (Snare, Bass Drum, China, etc) sound better, that would probably help a hell of alot!

Unfortunately getting an actual drummer and recording this is out of the question at this point... I'm located in South Africa (Where am I going to find a capable drummer), and I don't have the necessary equipment yet.

The guitars and bass have already been improved alot since this recording, I'll ensure the latest version gets uploaded in a few hours time.

Advice/Feedback, positive and negative, is very much appreciated! :kickass:

The bassdrum seems a bit too clicky for my taste...you should try to boost a bit between 60Hz-100Hz maybe, since your mix is really lacking the low-end.

The snare drum could probably use some lower frequencies as well...maybe 200Hz-300Hz; just play around, it really depends on the samples you use and the rest of the mix.

There is no general rule what frequencies you have to boost etc.; but I suggest to do lo/hi-pass for all the instrumentsbefore doing anything else...just to have a cleaned up mix.

I usually cut my guitars at around 90Hz-100Hz and 12000Hz.

Snaredrum around 100 Hz as well and Kickdrum and Bass around 40 Hz...but that's just me; I guess everyone is doing it different and it usually differs a bit with every mix.

If played tight, quadtracked guitars can really improve a mix.

Not sure if I helped you now. ;)

what did you use for drums? getting better drums would improove this a lot...snare+overheads arent that great...wouldnt work with them tbo^^
after fixing that you have to take a look at guitars and drums again

Everything is really good except for the drums (drum sound) The guitars and bass are really clean, they sound almost fake haha. I would highly suggest in saving up for a good drum sampler.

EDIT: I like the song as well, for what it counts.
