Terminator: Salvation

Terminator isnt a reboot, its a continuation. John Connor's war with the machines that was only 'the future' in the first 3 movies.

Reboot. They've all said it's meant to "begin again very much in the spirit of what [Christopher] Nolan did with Batman," in that it will stand on its own without the original films.

And, if you read the rest of that portion of the wikipedia entry you copied from, you'd see the next section stating "It's a bit of a prequel and sequel"... or whatever.

To elaborate that portion further, it will have plot elements that will explain and use aspects of the first 2 movies (the 3rd will most likely be ignored as it was just sub-par and most terminator fans choose to consider it an outside film) to explain this futuristic premise.

It's not a reboot by any means, but a parallel.

It's also sort of believed that Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles will share plot points with the new movie as opposed to things set in Terminator 3... which I hope, considering that series is a much better continuation to Terminator 2 than that shit-fest Terminator 3 was.

Edit: The technical term for Terminator 3's placing was "Alternate Timeline after Terminator 2".

Terminator III wasnt bad.

In terms of action, it was alright, but in terms of plot, setting, and continuity? It was a fucking mess! Granted, Terminator Salvation is getting partly the same writing crew, Jonathan Mostow was tossed to the street though. Everyone on the crew blamed him for the severe problems in Terminator 3, so it's time to see if they were actually NOT the problem, or if they're gonna fuck it up and blame it on McG.

Edit: Actually, I keep forgetting... McG fucking sucks. I'm going to go ahead and declare this movie fucking horrid, despite the fact that I feel anything Bale touches is gold. McG has proven himself to be quite an awful director and producer several times.

I'll give this writing crew one more chance after this movie if this turns out to be the worst movie ever, that is, unless they fail to find a competent director this time...

Edit2: Then again, in terms of writing, we're dealing with Brancato and Ferris, and don't get me started on how these fucks are riding on the tail of "The Game"... have been for years. Why anyone would believe it wasn't his fault the plot for T3 sucked dick is a mystery, but I kinda believed it, just based on Mostow's presence. Thinking of it, they also blamed Catwoman on Pitof.

This movie just has trouble written all over it :(

I'm guessing the preview was only attached to the standard theater version? Saw the imax 3 times and all I saw in terms of trailers was a 30 second Harry Potter spot and The Watchmen.

yeah, there was watchmen (FUCK YEAH), quantom of solace (new 007), the mummy, t4, some other shit. sweet, how was the harry potter one?

The harry potter one had no footage... it was just "COMING IN NOVEMBER... HARRY POTTER".

I'd take a trip to the regular theater for batman to see some of the other trailers, but FUCK THAT. Once you go IMAX you can't do anything else.
