Why is it that people (most people) are always embarrassed and unwilling to tell other people there middle name? Why is it that people always seem to hate it even though its just a normal other name (unless you had mean parents).

I hate my middle name because it involves an explanation. It's Herriott, which is my mom's maiden name, but whenever I say it people picture "Harriet," which is such an ugly girl's name.
