Hey guys, I'm due to become a dad in April, so it's gonna reduce the chances of me running loud amps here at home. I'm thinking of getting a Hotplate and using impulses instead. I just wanna know for sure if I can use a Hotplate (8ohm) without connecting the tube amps to a cab. Is this possible with the Hotplates?

Thanks in advance.

Yes the hotplates have the ability to act like a load as they have a load selection on them. I personally would be afraid though to have it plugged into the hotplate without a cab if the settings got knocked and it wasn't in the load setting anymore. I would be easier and more noticeably if you had the amp plugged into a cab and the Hotplate got bumped, because 1) you wouldn't have to worry about the amp getting blown and 2) you would know when it wasn't on load because there would be sound coming from the cab.

But maybe that is just me being over reactive, I worry about small shit like that, even if its only a very very small chance for something like that to happen.
