Anybody have any good recommendations on salami? I wouldnt mind picking up a log of such with some cheese to go with a few alcohol laced libations. Just had a ham and salami sammach and it dawned on me that I havent had thick cut salami in a moon's score. What do you high brow gourmands suggest?

i don't know if you can make generalized recommendations because they tend to be kind of different depending on exactly who made them and how etc.

i love anything genuine, italian or spanish, preferably with chili in it
 
I'm a big fan of anything from Boar's Head, some of the best stuff I've had since Disintegration.

does everything in america have a Brand Name® on it?

because my experience is that when it comes to stuff like this, if it does, it probably ain't worth buying
 
For the most part, yes. In my experience you are correct, but Boar's Head is one of few exceptions.

EDIT: At the same time I don't really eat much salami so it's not something I regularly seek out, who knows what little small artisan stuff I'm missing out on. All I know is that when I go to a deli a few times a year, if they serve Boar's Head, it's always delicious.

If you go to a regular chain supermarket then yeah. Hitting up some good Farmer's Markets then no.
