The Devil You Know

Well what I've read on Guitar World, looks like there will be only two songs with "thrash element". Earth On Hell and Fight 'Em.

Then that would make Scat Ian a total liar. I was at a few of the recent tour shows and he said 'Are you guys ready for some fuckin thrash metal?' we will never slow down EVER!"

Sounds like maybe, just maybe he was full of shit. I can't imagine this new album being Thrash Metal. Looks like it will be another watered down Anthrax album with a few signs of hope for the next album with Dan Spitz!

Um, doesn't Scott always ask the crowd if they're ready for some thrash when he's introducing Metal Thrashing Mad and stuff like that? Did you ever think that maybe he's saying Anthrax will never slow down as a band - as in never stopping??!!! I've seen footage of him saying this same thing to the crowd and always took it as "The Anthrax machine will never stop" etc.

Seems to me that maybe, just maybe, you take things just a tad too literally and hold on to every word Scott says as a direct promise to you which is totally out of context! It's not like he says "Every song on out new record is going to be 280 bpm".

As for Spitz, time to get over it buddy....he really really aint coming back. Christ, Rob's been a part of the band pretty much as long as he was anyway.... time to build a bridge and get over it.

You are the voice of reason, so he'll propably just ignore all this.

Hey everybody, Danny Spitz is coming back to do the next record! You heard it here first!

Can you draw any comparisons with any of their other songs? In that like Fight Em was similar to Gridlock/POT era mixed with some WCFYA Safe Home elements?

Ahem :-)

I only heard it once - it's not heavy like Fight Em. I would imagine it will be on mainstream rock radio. At least the stations with balls. Personally I haven't listened to local radio in about 6 years other then at other peoples houses and in other people cars. SiriusXM RULES.

I have missed this completely, but hey cool that we might soon hear a new song! (to the ones like me, who has not heard it live, if it was being played so far)

made a search and found this from the station's faceboook-page:

"Brand NEW ANTHRAX "The Devil You Know" from their new CD Worship Music debuts on Octane today! Post your feedback here..."

I'm not one to go by what Guitar World would say. We the listeners will have to be the judge of that when the album is released. Some people interpret 'thrash element' differently than others. Metal or Thrash, it's all good IMO.

at the end of the day i dont think anthrax could make a bad record.

I was talking about Rob Caggiano breaking it track by track in GW. We'll see.

In this age of the internet, how is this not out there yet?

I know, very frustrating.

Some bands do much better jobs than others in keeping their new stuff offline.

The new Trivium comes out next week. Don't laugh, but I'm keen to hear it (thought Shogun was great) and it hasn't come out anywhere that I can find online, and it's release is only 5-6 days away.
