The first "this band should be at next years prog power" thread

I saw there were a ton of Pyramaze shirts this year. I was mad, cos I thought Id be the only one hahah! Im glad to see a bunch of people dig em and from what I heard the vendors sold outta them pretty fast. Lets hope they can make it next year.

OK here is my .02

Dead Soul Tribe/Psychotic Waltz - I would gladly shell out sponsorhip money on them!
The Gathering - The first ever female fronted band in Progpower USA
Mechanical Poet - wait until you hear these guys!!!! all the way from Russia!
Orphaned Land - \m/ \m/
Sonata Arctica - I think they should be there in '05
Conception - that be fucken great!
Therion - I know, I know...too expensive
OSI/Kevin Moore - I don't care just get him to play live! ;)
Anekdoten - ok so not in the progpower mold but incredible!!!
Shadow Gallery - get those damn fuckers to play live!!!

I know this wont be realistic but I seriously would consider Dead Soul Tribe I think they would kick ass at PP

Some European bands I'd like to see brought over are Nostradameus, Amaran, Nocturnal Rites, and At Vance. Rough Silk, too, I think they would be PERFECT for ProgPower. It's a lot like Savatage's last three albums, very sweet stuff.

And maybe bring in Vanishing Point or Dungeon from Australia. They have some quality metal over there, too.

I'd love to see a rocky goth type band like Beseech, Charon or preferably Entwine, whose latest album Dieversity is incredible. So many people don't know these guys and they have some great songs.

Other then that, Lost Horizon, Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody, Falconer or something heavier like Arch Enemy. I could do without any 3/4peat performances but would love to see Mercenary a second time.

My first choice? Look at my avatar :Smug:

also, any band that Gus G is involved in would be great! - Mystic Prophecy, Firewind, the list goes on... :worship:

The Ring!!

~Hoyt.
Yes, and take it from someone whos heard a few snippets of the new FIREWIND........they would absolutely CRUSH live. Chity, Gus, and Stian are a trio of Metal! Amazing guys, and musicians.

The Ring , is another one Id love to see as well.

Heres my other top picks...

TWILIGHTNING - Fuck if this aint the most underated Power Metal band out there today.

EIDOLON - What the fuck! I see these guys every year at Prog Power yet its on the sidelines. Its about time they get on that fuckin stage. Glen is in now in Megadeth touring, and Nils from Pagans Mind is the new singer. NUFF SAID.

PAGANS MIND - This time as a headliner. With a new CD due in late 2005, the timing couldnt be anymore perfect.

Ummmm.

/me points to a picture of Tarja from Nightwish. :worship:

Any questions? :tickled:

I second Masterplan, they rock. (If only Ark could be reformed...)

I would kill to see Fates Warning - they're about the only band in my 'favourites' that I've never seen.

Therion - I know, I know...too expensive

 why does everyone keep saying this? They're a four-man band with a couple of extra singers. It'd be no different than bringing Nightwish or similar bands over. Therion has so much material to draw from that they don't have to have the bombastic choirs and orchestra to do a good, full set. Half of their latest release has some rocking good metal that could fall back on a keyboardist sampling the symphonic parts. No different than Savathing IMHO. *shrug*

Did anyone see the latest Iced Earth tour? They didn't have an orchestra, but they pulled off the Gettysburg Trilogy quite nicely. :Smug:

Hell, I'd get out and wash cars to help sponsor Therion!!! :loco:

They're on MY list. :D

They are definitely one of THE European bands who badly need to tour over in the States. Or even just play one show. (Have they ever played over here? A festival gig, maybe? I can't remember any...)

As far as I know, they have never played in the U.S. They have played the last couple of tours in Mexico and Central and South America.

They keep posting for U.S. fans to be patient - that U.S. dates are coming this winter. *looks at the calendar* uh... autumn is upon us. :err:

Maybe we'll know something soon concerning a Therion North American tour. :D
