The forum always seems extraordinarily active on Friday nights...

ok it's Friday and yet again i'm at home, but i kinda prefer it that way. i am bored as all hell and in desperate need of something to listen to but i have no clue what i want to hear or from what genre. i have over 400 CDs and nothing looks good =( HELP BEFORE I GO NUTS

I'm here. THe woman didn't want to do anything because she's exhausted from working 11 hours today. Fine by me, cuz I have 3 new CDs to listen to.

bah just rub it in my face! i have nothing new to listen to :erk: can't even think of anything to d/l to listen to

I hate that feeling, but thankfully it hasn't happened for some time.

Maybe it's time for UM Radio?

I hate when that happens. You end up just staring at your CD collection, and drooling in boredom.

You could roll the dice. Ever read the book, "The Diceman"?

No i sure haven't, last book i read was umm... . . .... . .. . Pillars of Creation by Terry Goodkind i think. Was entertaining myself with Anime but i ran out of stuff to watch, Gungrave is pretty damn good but i've watched all the episodes that have been done so far. I just threw some random shit in the winamp. i'm sick of the quiteness

Well, "The Diceman" is an interesting book that I read years ago. It's about a shrink who hits a rut in his life, and ends up using a pair of dice to help him make certain decisions. He would list out his options, and depending on how the dice landed, he would just follow along accordingly.

After a while, he started to treat his patients by letting them in on this dice idea. Eventually, things got out of hand because the options people would list out became more and more extreme. Example: if the die lands on '1', then go out shopping, and if it lands on '4', go kill the next door neighbour with an axe!

So many people caught on to this 'dice therapy' that it became a small cult. And in real life, this book had people using dice to start making decisions. Their interpretation was that the dice could never lie. It was a small phenomenon at the time.

Fucking brilliant book I might add. :heh:

Anyway, the point of all this is that you should try letting the dice make your listening decisions for you this evening....

Wow, that sounds like a kickass book. If I didn't have 30 books in my backlog I'd pick it up ASAP.

Normally I'll just search my collection for something I haven't listened to in years, and 90% of those moments I have a grand olde time. The other 10% I pick one that I loved 5 years ago, but can barely stomach today. :loco:

i think i have pretty much cleared out all the shit that i don't think i'd ever listen to again. i need some moody music i think.. heavy or light... this Trouble song is great, moody guitar.

NAD, you would love it. I don't know a single person who's read the book and hasn't played with the dice idea afterwards. The author, Luke Rhinehart, managed to obtain some level of notoriety and ended up writing a sequel. Avoid that, it's a waste. The first book, however, just turned peoples lives upside down, and even got banned in some countries.

I wish I had more Danzig. Remember I was going to buy Danzig III from half.com for $2? That guy cancelled the order. Anyway, on headbangers ball last week, they played the video to "Mother". It's amazing how his vocal style on Danzig 4 is much more 'natural', because this "Mother" song reminds me so much of The Cult, and his singing is very close to Ian Astbury. Not a bad thing necessarily, but I'd like to compare properly when I eventually buy the first 3 CD's. I'm so glad I started at 4. :tickled:

Danzig 1 is GREAT, 2 is as well but a little more bluesy. 3 to me seemed a little inconsistant whereas a shit load of people consider it his best. i wouldn't say that myself but it is good of course. personally i'd like to see Ian singing in a metal band. i'm sure that it would be quite excellent sounding as long as the music was good as well.

Yeah, he filled in for Jim Morrison for The Doors touring. Not sure if I could imagine him singing any metal other than The Cult metal, however.

i think it'd be great, not HEAVY HEAVY but something more like uh.... Sentenced perhaps... or maybe even In the Woods... style might even be suited to his style, who knows. would be interesting to hear

Heh, that's why I started reading Rushie to begin with, and was glad I did. :heh:

Ali, pay full price for Danzig III, half.com it for I and II though. The only problem I have with III is that he pushes his voice too hard and some parts it sounds funny, like a wildebeast in heat or something (like on the opening of Heart of the Devil).

Glenn and a bunch of dudes I've never heard of are recording the followup to 777 as we speak--er, type.

EDIT: Whoops, Tommy Victor is in Danzig right now, forgot about that. Pinch harmonic mania!

Pay full price?! Half.com still has it under "Very Good Items" for $4.99 with free upgrade to first class shipping. What do you reckon? Give me the word, and the sucker goes into a shopping cart.

If you cannot buy your own CDs, then live vicariously through me. :loco:

Oh just get it then, that's a screamin' deal. :dopey:

It's worth it for the songs Godless and How the Gods Kill. Glenn's a good Christian boy, dontcha know. :Saint:

Oh yeah, and Bodies is second only to Cantspeak as my favorite Danzig song. :)
