That seems to be the case pretty often with acoustic, cover, and re-recording EPs/LPs. I remember in 2017 or so Disturbed wanted to do an acoustic EP with some old songs and some new, but it never happened, instead resulting in five acoustic songs on Evolution (Shit album, but not because of the acoustic songs). FFDP said they wanted to re-record their debut album back in 2021 or so, but that manifested in their new “best of” album recently (Clayman 2020 tier shit). Fun fact there, they tried spinning it upon release as being inspired by Taylor Swift. Real tough bro shit. I think In This Moment was going to redo all of Blood originally, but they’ve phoned shit in since 2018, so they just did four songs in really minimalistic 80s-styled covers that didn’t have effort from any of the members in any sort of way. Down, Wicked, & No Good was done pretty competently overall and didn’t have any hiccups in its marketing, so In Flames is unfortunately better than all of them with that.
I have a lot more faith in the quality THE will deliver, but yeah, they’ve tended to be really confusing with announcing stuff.
