The irreverence of South Park

Yeah, it's so crude, and utilizes so much slang, and specifically incorporates lots of double-meaning, I can't possibly imagine that it would or could translate to any other language very well.

South Park is the greatest political cartoon ever (well, it is NOW. The older episodes don't typically deal with all of that jazz).

ah man no shit, here in Quebec we have the french translation (dubbed in France) and sometimes they use expression we have NO FUCKING CLUE what they mean.

And oh man... when a french tells an english name, my poor ears

Fortunately, we dubb hollywood movies and the Simpsons

the Simpsons dubbed in Quebec's french is truly, truly better than the english version, and I usually hate dubbed versions.

Now? Even now, few episodes are "political". And it is a fact that most of them suck, the duo behind the show is losing inspiration, and they focus on being "extreme" just for the shake of it (like in the very last episode, or the first of the 9th season). Anyway, the 8th season was g-r-e-a-t, but i doubt they will make again something as amazing as the 2nd, 3rd or 4th season.

Chill out there, cowboy... I'm referring to the fact that most of the new shows are based around current events.

100% agreed.

Stan - "You guys, I'm getting that John Elway football helmet for Christmas!"

Cartman - "How do you know?"

Stan - "Cause I looked in my parents closet last night."

Cartman - "Yeah, well I sneaked around my mom's closet too, and I saw what I'm getting. I'm getting The Ultra-Vibe Pleasure 2000."

Stan - "Wow, what's that?"

Cartman - "I don't know, but it sounds pretty sweet."

:tickled:

So nobody agrees with me that the show really went to shit in recent years? The political stuff is just completely vapid, horrible humour. There are some classic episodes from back in the earlier years, but the new South Park is right down on that HORRIBLE level with Team America!

Team America RULED!!!

maybe i saw the wrong episodes, but brown guys saying "durka durka" for half an hour while the boys run around trying to complete some boring plan is NOT on a level with Chicken Fucker and all those awesome episodes from back in the day!
