Planning thread for the Longship jaunt in conjunction with the DF Tour.

Points to consider:

Which gigs are easily accessible from water?
Is motorising the longship a viable alternative for inland gigs?
Preferred ales for the journey.
Sourcing and fitting of horned helmets.
Warpaint?

Cardiff has to be a good bet. Being right by the sea and having its own docks an' all. Southampton, Glasgow and Belfast all look promising too. And having Birmingham right at the start of the tour could be a good thing. Get used to rowing in the canals before we hit the high seas!

As for beer, I can provide homebrew, but rowing could quickly become very confusing on that stuff. How about this?

I'll leave the helmet-sourcing to you, but you just know that the warpaint is an absolute must!

Yessss! Viking beer! *dances*

Helmet sourcing will be fun, and I'm sure I can lay my hands on some greasepaint in the relevant colours.

Now, as for motorising the thing. I still favour the idea of attaching it to the top of a car. I have a fairly long car that may be suitable, but no damn way am I gonna be in the driving seat on this voyage, so we'll need a driver.

Oi!

Tis mine and Katie's voyage, WE decide if there's room for totty!

And in the case of the Hamster, there definately is

That's another problem. You just know if he found out Hammond or May were going on a longboat voyage he'd have to come along in an atomic powered speedboat to race us.
