The New Album Thread

AWESOME Matt !!
I want to book an interview with you...when the time for the album release is due!

fist off... This is my first post now that i've joined the Theocracy forums. So.. as it being my first post, i would like to say that i love Theocracy. I love Progressive Metal and i love good christian made music, but to find both together is hard to do. Luckily, there is Theocracy.

Second, I wish i didn't know about the new album comming out. I just got over the long wait for the new Dream Theater album and now i've got another long hall to wait through for the new Theocracy album.
( HEY MATT... knowing that you're a Dream Theater fan seeing as most of your photos has you wearing one of their T-shirts, What do you think of the Octavarium cd? )

This being my first post, i would just like to say thank you so much Matt, for an absolutely phenomenal album, rich lyrics and really memorable riffs God Bless You! Reall good original christain artists in prog are real difficult to come by,,,
Really looking forward to this new album with new bassist and drummer, adding to theocracys awesome sound, God bless you all!

Anthony

Great thing about Theocracy's 1st album.....I play it usually 1-2 times a week and each time I find a new detail or some kind of ear candy that I might have completely missed before. It's a coveted skill to produce music that can still sound fresh even though it's been left out for over a year. everytime I hear something I missed before I'll just keep rewinding and playing that same part over and over.....the experience just becomes so huge to the ears.
Love it. Album 2 is going to be like going to a carnival. Too many rides to do all at once......gotta buy a season pass to experience everything.

I'm not sure where to ask this, and I didn't want to start a whole new thread, so I'll ask here. I've heard some people complain about the drums on the debut since it is a drum machine. Is there any chance of actually recording the drums and re-releasing the tracks in some manner?

Actually, this was discussed in a previous thread, which I can't find at the moment. I also can't find the search function on this forum (maybe I'm blind), so that's hindering my search for it.

Anyway, the gist of it was several people asking if that would ever happen and the band saying No. To the best of my memory, anyway...

Didn't say never, just that it's not a priority. Maybe fun to do several years down the line, or for bonus tracks if needed. The new album is the priority at the moment...

Yeah, I'm kinda annoyed with how long it's taking the search function to come back.

Matt, can you even give us an estimate of a release date, hopefully before the year's end?
I just read the italian interview, and if you think the album is that good, I can't wait for it :D

Crimson, the festival is mid september, so hopefully someone can get the sampler and let us know about the new track :D

crimson, I was not able to get an extra ProgPower sampler. It is a 3 CD package and was in high demand. They were pretty adamant on each person getting only one. Sorry :(

I know im new to the theocracy forums. My name is Ben, and I attented progpower6 and got the sampler albums. I heard "writings in the sand" and i absolutely love it and told all my friends about it and they are stoked to hear it. I can't stop listening to it, Matt you never fail at giving us great christian metal man! by the way, i do have the debut theocracy album and its better than most of my secular albums without a doubt. rock on :headbang:

You're killing me! I really want to hear the new song. Matt, can you please post it on the main page? I absolutely love every song on your CD by the way. God has truly given you a gift for writing lyrics and making incredible music.

Hey Everyone--
Just a quick update on the album, since I know it's been pretty quiet lately. Just recently finished writing yet another song, so we have too much material for one CD and I'm not sure what to do because I don't really feel any of the songs are b-side material, but I don't want to release a double either...
I'll definitely never make this "record as we write and go along" mistake again. It takes too long, and makes it impossible to get a consistent sound; plus I've found I work better off a schedule. Oh well, live and learn. The main holdup now is this big epic I'm struggling with. Most of it is written but I'm in the arrangement and final writing stages of it and it's been driving me mad (always does, though). I think I'm going to take next week off from everything and do nothing but concentrate on finishing the writing, so then we'll finally be able to make some real progress. Believe me, I'm more impatient for it to be done than anyone! We want to make sure we're happy with it though, so it will be done when it gets done.

Thanks for your patience and for sticking with us!

You could release it as an enhanced CD that has the songs that don't fit in MP3 format as well as the others in their normal CD audio format or something. Whatever you do, I'm eagerly anticipating it.
