Wow, it's been awhile, huh?
Sorry for the lack of updates. Life has been crazy lately in so many
ways. Recording is going very well and we've made a lot of progress. I
was hoping to be able to shoot for the end of March as a goal for being
completely done with recording, but that's not going to be possible now
because of various factors (started a new job, selling/buying a couple of
final pieces for the studio, etc.), but hopefully it will not be much longer
than that. Guitars and bass are almost totally done, and some of the
drums and vocals are done (we had to record a lot of this stuff out of the traditional order for various reasons). I just wanted to pop in here and let you know
that I'm still working hard.
I have to say, when I listen to stuff from this new album, it sounds to me
like there has been closer to, say, 5 years between the two albums instead of 2 years.
I hear so much development in all areas, which is very cool. I'm not
saying it's "better" than the first album, as you'll never hear me say
that because that's impossible for me to judge. The old cliche' about a musician's albums being like his children is very true. No matter how good or bad the new album is, it won't have "The Serpent's Kiss" or "Twist of Fate", etc. So I can't say what's better, I can just say that the execution, production, singing, etc. on this new one is taken to a new level beyond the first album, as it should be 2 or 3 years down the line. But of course it all comes down to the songs, and I couldn't be happier on that front.
There are other developments in the Theocracy world as well, but we'll cover all that when the time is right. In the meantime, we'll be plugging away, because I really want to buckle down and get this done in the next month or two to give plenty of time before ProgPower for things like artwork, label negotiations, etc.
So stay tuned...the updates may be few and far between, but rest assured that the album will be done before you know it.
Thanks,
