The Obsidian Conspiracy recording sessions begin

Just check out the entire gig at the much music studio in Toronto on youtube. Great set and the sound quality is very tolerable. They go all out bringing some indian classical guru to get the raga thing going on sister awake there... Definitely fun music to get high to.

That dude's vocals always reminded me of Mark Lanegan.
He sounds like a bastard son of Jim Morrison and Mark Lanegan!

I checked some songs last night, Sisters awake was great, so was Baazar for instance.

Well Mr B the approach we have taken with the Doors song...at first Jeff made it too heavy, I suggested we just do it all acoustic and the result was amazing, perhaps not what you might expect but it turned out quite beautiful

Are you recording these cover tunes for some "limited edition special digipack" release of the album or are they included in the regular version of the album also?

I've always thought it would be neat to hear NM cover "Precious Things" by Tori Amos. That's one song by her that would translate into a metal version and certainly would be considered an interesting and unique choice.

As far as something more rock/metal - how about "Victim of Changes" by Judas Priest? Warrel is one of the few vocalists that could pull it off, and that song has a lot of emotion in it.

Anything by The Tea Party would be amazing. Even Temptation. Transmission is an amazing album...got it when it came out years ago.

You should also tour with them. The Tea Party are probably literally the most underrated and overlooked band of all time. I've been listening to them for years and I'm still surprised at how many people don't know who they are.

Tea Party is no more, DW. Jeff Martin is doing his own thing right now. But as a Canadian, they were one of the few bands I could actually stand behind in what I would consider to be more mainstream music coming out of this country.

Well shit.

But Warrell...seriously...how could you overlook their epic-as-fuck song PSYCHOPOMP? It would be perfect for you guys; it's got good riffs, great orchestration, and the chorus is haunting, brooding, and just downright EPIC.

"...still you want it all.................I'LL GIVE YOU SOMETHIN' MOOOOOOORE!!!!! AND YOU FAAAAAAADE AWAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY, ONE LAST KISS BEFOOOOOOOORE YOU FAAAADE AWAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!"

Come on Wally. You can't tell me it doesn't still give you goosebumps when you hear that song.

Warrel should do a cover of Lullaby...just because.
I have no idea how that would work, haha
