The Official "How was the Hellish Rock Show" at ProgPower 9?

Are there any songs you wish that Helloween and Gamma Ray would have played at your show that were left off the setlist?

Helloween:
Save Us
Push
Hell Was Made In Heaven
Steel Tormentor
How Many Tears

Gamma Ray:
Heading For Tomorrow
Free Time
Beyond The Black Hole
Heaven Or Hell

That opens up a HUGE can of worms for me... let's see....

Gamma Ray:
The Winged Horse
Revelation
Blood Religion
Rich & Famous
Follow Me
Watcher in the Sky
Heaven or Hell
Guardians of Mankind
Heal Me

Ok, I think that's enough. I'm perfectly happy with the setlist they played, but I'd love to see the songs I put for Gamma Ray, that would be fantastical :D

Or, they could do an entire set of Gamma Rayized Queen covers and I'd be perfectly happy... my god that would be cool.

Helloween:

Rise and Fall
King for 1,000 Years (I was really looking forward to that... garr)
Come Alive
Gorgar
Murderer
Save Us
Mrs. God

I was really hoping for King for 1,000 years, that song is extremely cool. I was really thinking they would play it, then it never happened and I was kind of bummed, but oh well.

There's a ton of them but here are the songs I would've liked the most:

Helloween:
Victim of Fate (with Kai)
The Departed
Heaven Tells No Lies
Can Do It
How Many Tears

Gamma Ray:
Opportunity
Hear Me Calling
Heal Me
Farewell
Blood Religion
Hellfire
Trouble
Damn the Machine
Armageddon
Dream Healer
Land of the Free

Though I was very thankful to see my favorite song "The Silence" played live in Osaka. That was so awesome :D

They did on the whole tour except in the US. They had to shorten their setlist because of the other opening bands. It was amazing in Osaka & Tokyo :)

Yep, that's why I was like ooh yay, then, nope... ahhwell.

Oh, I forgot Rain. You know I'm sick when I forget Rain...

course yeah that's just me today, gah...

Helloween played a lot of songs I have never seen them do live in the US (Such as Mr Torture, A Tale That Wasn't Right, etc.)

Tons of Helloween tracks I would love to see them play:
Judas
Reptile
Rise and Fall
Always Walk Alone
Kids of the Century
Heavy Metal Hamsters
Forever and One
Just a Little Sign
Don't Stop Being Crazy
Never Be A Star
Mrs God
(FULL versions of the Deris material they crammed into the medley - I Can, Where The Rain Grows, Power, etc)

I saw HR twice and both time GR just blew the Weenies away. Deris' vocals are not that great live but since the songs are so strong, one tends to forgive the deficiencies.

Totally agreed on full versions of the medley tunes!:headbang::kickass:

Yeah I was too.

I've 'heard' about it for years. I've talked to various people over the years who were like OMG you gotta listen to Helloween!! Of course, that usually pisses me off then I avoid bands, but you know how stuff goes.

Course, I personally still prefer Kai's vocals the best anyway. I don't mind Andi though, he does a good job. Kiske reminds me way too much of Geoff Tate, so sometimes a little is too much, but yeah. In the end I still end up liking Gamma Ray more, haha.

Course, I can't see them even wanting to play Hamsters... I'd think they'd all get pissy n be like here's your hamsters, n like, throw live hamsters in the audience instead of pumpkins... well, or maybe not. It'd definitely get some press though, hahaha!

Hahaha sorry, I'm an anomaly lolol.

Ok yeah, basically, the guys in Helloween tossing out live hamsters into the audience, rather than the inflatable pumpkins, lol. I get weird ideas, sorry, hahahaha.

But yeah you can say I'm weird if you want, I won't take it personally ;) hehe

Helloween were amazing on this tour.
Great performances.
Great setlist.

I think people are failing to see that simply because (and I agree 100%) Gamma Ray were f*cking amazing!

That being said, I think Helloween are getting a bit of unnecessary lashing around here.

I agree. I thought both bands were excellent at the Chicago show. It was my first time seeing Helloween so I guess I don't have anything to compare it to. But I had a blast at the show and I would certainly see them again.

Nah, one power metal fan calling another power metal fan weird would be like the pot calling the kettle black!
