The Official "You've-Gotta-Check-This-Band-Out!" Thread -- POWER METAL

All Accept/UDO fans should know VANIZE, featuring Peter Dirkschneider on vocals. Oh yes, it's just like Accept only, to my ears, less polished and more raw. And that's a GOOD thing!!!

You have got that right!! Awesome power - just great German metal all the way with absolutely no fluff and lame keyboards. Killer guitars and riffs. Does anyone know where I can get their newest album, "Raw"?? Been looking for awhile! If you have seen it, please let me know!!

Not really new or unique but I just got this album recently and it's quite catchy. All about dragons and what not. Never seen anyone mention them before.

Favourite song off of their Eternal Crusade album is Out In The Endless Space

I'll never pass up a chance to plug MILES BEYOND!
You've all heard the name, now you gotta go listen! I don't want to have to say, "I told you so.."

Thanks to PurpleCrayonWriter for turning me on to this really cool female-fronted band from California:
BENEDICTUM
These guys ain't f*ckin' around!

I TOTALLY spaced these EXCELLENT new bands that are all new in the last few months and have been greatly overlooked I believe, one I actually sing on so I'm hoping people will check that out ( Shining Star) it kinda got sandwiched between the releases of AVIAN and PYRAMAZE and I think it may have been overshadowed being a new release and an unknown band,
but I think people need to hear it, you can hear samples on myspace
at www.myspace.com/shiningstar7 or at CDbaby.com

SOLIDVISION is a-freaking-mazing as well, these guys are from italy and rival Dream Theater in a similar style, but have they're own thing going and are really brilliant.

Also SUSPYRE and independent band that I hope to sign to Nightmare for their next album, I have these at Nightmare for sale, but check them out at
myspace.com/suspyre, they'll kick your ass too!

That's my rant for the day, did you buy your tickets yet????

Skitzotik - s/t (1995).

Pure, pure power metal at it's finest. Too bad this is the only release I know of from this band.

The singer Ric Plamondon was the Vox man on Black Symphony's "Tears Of Blood." That's more dark progressive than power, but an awsome CD. It ranks as a "Must Have" by Harveston.

It's "Viking" metal but I recommend Ensiferum.

BTW: You ALL suck! I just spent $100 because of this thread.

Dragonland.

If Glenn can't get Rhapsody... maybe... Dragonland? I highly recommend them. They are quite incredible composers and musicians, and the singing is quite good, though at times is not as strong as it could be. The production quality is very good. Their multiple layers make me wonder how they sound live. Looking at their touring dates they have been set up with some very good groups (e.g. Sonata Arctica). The lyrics... are cheesy as hell. But... with a name like Dragonland, would anything else suffice? Anyhow, they are cheesy yet you still want to throw your devil horns in the air and put on your plate mail and go off to war.

I've got an mp3 cover of the "Neverending Story" movie theme that's tagged as being done by Dragonland, which would slide in nicely with the cheese motif (it's actually a good cover), but I'm told it probably isn't by them after all. :D
