Does anyone have videos or recordings from the Israeli Oud Festival 2006? I've been wanting to hear/see with no hope, till today I check an interview with Yossi about New Jerusalem, where I heard the accoustic version of the song from a clip of the show, and well, I thought this is it! I must hear the whole show! :D

So does anyone have clips or recordings (clear ones) that can upload for us? Youtube has only one video and the quality is terribly poor.

Hello Messiakh. The video (interview) you saw was made by Yannick and me. As far as I know, no one else has video/ recording of this show. I know, because many have asked here before.
The show was indeed amazing and very special. Later it turned out some of the melodies from this show found their way to the ORwarriOR album. Since there is more material in the vaults of the Disciples, we might do more videos like this, but do not expect for us to release the whole show on youtube. (in view of the respect to the owner of the rights to the music)

About the video: have you noticed how much faster the melody is played at the oud show? It is really cool to see how a song turns out, when you compare the early parts and the end result.

The oud festival is an annual festival in Jerusalem, which is dedicated to the oud. In 2006 Orphaned Land were invited to play there and performed a very special acoustic set with adapted versions of their songs and some additional melodies. Some of those ended up on the ORwarriOR album later as part of the songs. Also performing in the show were Yossi's father David, his uncle (who plays the oud), percussionist Yatziv Caspi and the most famous Egyptian quanun player Abraham Salman.

This is what the organistation writes about the festival: for a decade having produced the Jerusalem International Oud Festival - the jewel in the crown of its annual activity, exploring Arab musical tradition and each year bringing together traditions and artists from East and West.
In all of these activities, Confederation House seeks to serve as a bridge between East and West, between past and present, and above all, linking together all peoples.

And with these words it is very clear why Orphaned Land were invited, both musically and ideologically they fit the bill.
