Okay... I recently discovered that the government docks off about 30% of income when you make over fifty grand.

I was wondering how it is in other countries.. and a lot of you humans are JUST THAT.

It is nothing until £5000 here then it is 22% up until 30,000 or so then it's 40% above that.

its not that bad here in the states, but we dont have national health care, and we have shitty public schools

AND we do have healthcare. Which despite the bitching of many, is actually pretty damn good.

You'd be surprised how many people DON'T know what and how much gets taken out for what...not to mention that of other countries. Sometime it's called other things, but still it is a tax. I didn't think much about until meeting up
with some Aussies and Euros. Japan has "services" rolled in as well but have another term for it. As far as I see it, we get drilled by the government here but don't have to bend so far over, yet. Sounds like you're thinking to be "creative with $". Check out government sites for the all the rules. Often you can't even open an account without a legit reason or paperwork.

I concede to being very parochial here.
I never really considered taxes at all. I figured, "You make sixty grand, fifteen for expenses, the rest is yours."

I will definitely be informed on this subject by the time I have a career.

...it's really an odd and sneaky thing. Last I remember, in Japan it was 5% of your income. But then they get killed in VAT tax and other taxes. You just can be certain, the government will get what they want. The sad part is they know what they want, then go after the $...not like how WE have to spend from our limited account. Anyway...I'm done.
