Quite accurate until the 7th century I believe. At least for the upper class.

I like how you focused on what language the Byzantines were speaking instead of complaining about the free +40% HP they got for their buildings when they advanced to the Imperial Age.

God damn walls were a pain in the ass to my elite viking squads of death... so many villagers died trying to get my petards to the walls (they were meant to be arrow/bomb fodder though).

I'm sure Zeph could very well school me when it comes to Roman history and I completely agree with him that the Eastern populace spoke Greek as opposed to Latin. Anything that increases the Greekness of my beloved Byzantines makes me happy.
