It's something from the much hyped videogame Portal. It's kind of difficult to explain what it is to someone who hasn't played the game, but in the game you are trapped in a series of test chambers by yourself while someone tells you to do things and at some point you are issued a Weighted Companion Cube as a "friend" to keep you company.

After Valve realised that every nerd on the internet was jerking himself off over this game they decided it was a good idea to create some merchandise for it so they made a plush version of that cube and sold it. And someone decided it was a good idea to give one to me.
