it is an entirely elective procedure and to do an elective procedure on someone before they are able to give consent is ridiculous
not to mention around 5% of circumcisions end up causing severe tissue and nerve damage...which is too high a number for it to be almost socially mandated in the US
1st
there is a situation where it's medically neccassary
sometimes (very rarely) phimosis has an extreme form where the foreskin actually needs to be removed because it won't stretch and the foreskin is ripping and shredding every single time a guy gets an erection
most of the time, though, phimosis is just the foreskin still extending beyond the tip of the penis even durring and erection
and also
phimosis is really rare to begin with
most of the time, the length of the foreskin doesn't stretch at all because most of the time it doesn't need to, where the penis length extends far beyond the edge of the foreskin when the penis is fully erect, like a really long arm having just the shoulder covered by a short-sleeved-shirt
the huge-ass number of men (in the USA) getting circumscized is ridiculous, partially because of how ridiculously rare it is for this procedure to be medically neccassarry
and also because 99% of the USA males being circumscized are newborns
also, aside from the rare form of a rare condition, there are actually benifets to having a foreskin
