What the sun looked like here about 1½ hours before sunset due to the haze from Australia being on fire.

And this is what it looked like yesterday at 10am from our favourite fishing spot in East Gippsland.

I haven't confirmed the figures but many reports are suggesting that the California Wildfires of 2018 burnt 1.4 million hectares. The Amazon fires of last year burnt 400 million hectares. New South Wales alone has lost 4 Million hectares to the fires already and there is 3 other states currently suffering from the fires as well.

Add to that 12 million or more hectares burnt in Siberia and the Arctic Circle in 2019.
