why exactly is a giant field of seagull-poop being called a "tourist attraction"??

Gannets are more closely related to boobies, shags and even penguins. Quite different to a gull. Just some sort of wonder of nature since they nest (& shit) together like that in such huge numbers. It's the largest colony of the particular species that's on mainland as opposed to an island, having gradually grown to about 20,000 birds over the course of 170 years.
