Switching from franchises to promotion & relegation leagues would probably do the trick. European hockey leagues don't have commercials in the games, because the clubs are nonprofit organizations. That's why all the uniforms look like sportscars instead of having just a logo.

Well, even hockey being bigger than soccer today, i think that soccer will be the most important sport in USA, sooner or later. Nobody can stop FIFA.

Yeah, especially with the rapidly growing Latin American population in the US. Imagine the viewer ratings of the WC finals in 20 something years. I think the record of 1.5 billion was set in WC98 in the finals between Brazil and France.

I would say hockey is more popular. NHL playoffs are even above the NBA playoffs at this time in terms of ratings. Soccer seems more popular in the southern states and the opposite for the northern states. I feel hockey is on a strong upswing.

I think so too after the strike in 04-05. I should check to see if NHL playoff ratings are better then NBA playoff ratings.

Yes, I'd definitely go with Eto'o even if I could get Ibrahimovic for free. As for my dislike for him, it's not so much his game as his behaviour off the court, he's really obnoxious. You could say he's the anti-thesis to Henrik Larsson, who was the most classy and humble player in the world.
