The REAL football thread.

Yeah, but i was talking about the Champions League. Talking about Manchester, i think that Cristiano Ronaldo should back, cuz in Real Madrid he didn't do anything in this season, and i'm sure that Manchester won't win nothing. Well, looks like both need each other.

Dude, they already won the Carling Cup. Not that it's like the F.A. Cup, but it still counts. Moreover, I'd rather see Valencia foxing left-backs than see CR7 back. In the left-wing, they have Obertan, Nani and Tosic [if and when he's back] that's more than sufficient IMO. The problem is with having a consistent, mature forward. Looking at the way Macheda and Welbeck are improving along with the introduction of Diouf, they have no shortage of future talent. All they need is a goal-scoring forward. I think Berba should stay on as the withdrawn supporting striker, at which he is awesome.

EDIT - @ Vitor - I was taking a jab at Faith being a pompey fan

Ow yeah, Faith isn't fan of the big teams. lol

I forgot the Carling Cup, but it was very easy, i saw the game, it doesn't count. lol

I think that Valencia could be the natural substitute if Rooney was playing better to help him. Don't count with Macheda, he isn't a good player, and berbatov either. I don't know, maybe they need change the coach.

it's horrible cuz you americans just wanna know about football with hands (lol) and baseball.

Well they both came from here so that why it's popular. There similer games like rugby and cricket in other contries. There is Australia football as well.

You forgot that americans love basketball as well.

The four biggest team sports in the US (American football, basketball, baseball and ice hockey), are the most popular simply because they are all tv-friendly as far as advertising goes. Is it a coincidence that they all include constant breaks in the middle of the games, allowing for commercials? Hell no. With football you can't do that, and thus it isn't as popular in your tv-worshipping country. It's all controlled by the media in your case. Hell, commercials even have an impact on the sports themselves, as they prolong some of the normal breaks.

Commercials do have a big impact on sports itself. I think the reason they are all popular in North America is because we created it from here.

How is it a tv-worshippinh country when other places are like that as well?

EDIT: Lets end that discussion right there.

Wrong.

Hockey is not that popular here in the US, soccer is.

I would say hockey is more popular. NHL playoffs are even above the NBA playoffs at this time in terms of ratings. Soccer seems more popular in the southern states and the opposite for the northern states. I feel hockey is on a strong upswing.

Well maybe it's half and half? Because I've been as far up as Colorado and I hardly hear about hockey.

Edit - Excuse me not Colorado, get it mixed up with Missouri. Weird i know.
